Two big things to share this week: We’re opening our submissions for our THEMED fall edition, and we’re able to begin paying contributors.

The deets!

Our fall edition (timing: October) will be, originally, spooky themed, but very much up to contributor interpretation. Think: gothic, traditional horror, the horrors of modern life. We’re also having a special call for personal ghost stories. These do not need to be literary, but they do need to be relatively succinct and clearly communicated. All of this can be sent to our email talk@talkvomit.com. The deadline for submissions is September 30.

Secondly, thanks to reader support via this newsletter, we’re going to start issuing honoraria to our contributors via Venmo and Paypal. Our rates are DIY-zine rates, but we hope they will increase. Fiction and nonfiction will run in the $10-30 range; poetry in the $5-15 range. The rate will be higher for print exclusives.

We’re only able to do this because readers like you support us through this Substack. If you’d like to help us pay more contributors high rates, please consider becoming a paid subscriber.

Finally, our print summer edition is finalized and, if you ordered a copy, expect it to be in the mail in about a week, once we get it back from the printer.
