Sticking my head out of an editing cave to say happy almost spring, and, with that, to share Talk Vomit’s spring ‘24 cover. This quarter, the theme is ‘revelation,’ however our writers choose to interpret that.
What’s in it?
This is going to be a really nonfiction-heavy edition of Talk Vomit (because that’s the mood I’m in, and also because why not, and also because so many folks sent in so many great essays that I couldn’t help but want to give them a home).
This is a print thing, right?
Yep, still going to be in print and online!
The price, pre-orders?
We’ll be finalizing acceptances over the next couple of days and then it’s straight into production and edits we go. So, that means… pre-orders are open! I was able to drop the price a bit, down to $15 (and discounted to $13 until April 15!).
There’s also a little bundle option for those who didn’t yet get the winter edition, where you can get both at a very steep discount ($20!). Because transparency is the best, I’ll explain the best I can: the prices have fluctuated for the print edition in the last year for a couple of reasons — changing printers, the big one, but also because it’s hard to put an exact number to what my time and work is worth, as well as our writers, since every dollar that comes in goes to either them or paying for the website. (Which isn’t incredibly cheap, all things considered!) So, the experiment continues. As sales have increased, the price has gone down to reflect that, and I’m hoping this will be sustainable because accessibly-priced literature is certainly the best for all.
We also have the option of supporting us through Substack! I haven’t quite worked out what the benefits are, other than being a super patron I am indebted to forever (I’m air-mailing you a kiss, as I type this, if this is you), but I am certainly open to suggestions!
Okay, but give us the cover!
Okay! You’re right, you’re right. Here it is:
Here it is :). A friend of mine asked me if I think the print edition just keeps getting better each time, and the answer, most definitely, is yes. As always, I’ll order a few extras, but in DIY zine production, as elsewhere in publishing, pre-orders set the tone. I order a few additional copies based on how many pre-orders come in. So… maybe now’s the time to get yours? ty ily
c u sooner than u think
