Good morning!!
It’s the last day of March, birds are chirping as I write this, seedlings are sprouting on their warming pads, and Talk Vomit’s spring edition is here.
We’ve been quiet on the newsletter this past month as we dug through submissions, communicated with writers, and developed the web launch. But, that hibernation is over, and now we are back. :) In the next few months, we’ll be sharing pieces from the spring edition, publishing book reviews & Q&A’s, and generally get back to our thinking about writing and publishing, and what it all means.
This was our most competitive edition yet in terms of submissions, so if you submitted & your work was not selected, please know, genuinely, that this was a very arduous and difficult curation process. I am very proud of how the edition came together — such breadth, such pointed voices — and I also had to say no to many lovely pieces by very talented writers. That’s the worst part of running a lit mag!
This quarter’s theme is: The Call is Coming from Inside the House, and our writers did not disappoint. There are many variations on the theme, which I think also sums up how a lot of (most of, all of) us are feeling right now. This edition is a testament to that. A record, if you will, of turmoil. Of unease.
Without further ado:
See you very soon!
Xo,
M
